The Management of Trams and Trolleybus lines, the largest public transport unit in Tallinn, is using "Pikas" software since 1992. "Pikas" has facilitated co-ordination of trolleybus traffic and contributed to significant improvement of services provided to passengers. In 2001 the most updated version of this software has been acquired by public transport companies in Tallinn that are using common ticketing system. In 2002, following the request by Public Transport Unit, "Pikas" software was used to develop comprehensive database of traffic schedules for all three types of public transport means: trams, trolleybuses and buses. The database is also related to urban digital map. Based on such database it is possible to present on the website the traffic schedules in five languages (English, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian) and to find the information by mobile phone via SMS.

Riga

"Pikas" software has earned its solid market share in Riga, the largest city of the Baltic states, once its developers have been awarded a contract during the international tender announced by Riga Duma in 2001. To our mind, this type of computer software version will help to address many traffic planning, co-ordination and management (by using GPS) problems.

Vilnius

In 1999 "Pikas" software has been introduced in Vilnius city and it contributed significantly to solution of many traffic planning problems. Within a three - year period traffic scheduling has undergone cardinal changes: "Pikas" has been successfully used for estimation of passenger flows, permeability of crossroads and streets and for co-ordination or traffic. Now passengers can make use of accurate traffic schedules posted at each trolleybus and/or bus station. Moreover, this information is available not only in Internet but also via SMS. Thanks to "Pikas" software, the municipal budget within a three year’s time was able to save 1,200,000 US dollars. In terms of cost - effectiveness, this is a very impressive figure against the software price.
